Early stargazers --- especially the priests of Egypt and Babylon, semi-desert tries where skies are rarely clouded --- were fasated by the star-studded opy which seemed to arch overhead, and by the daily cycle of the Sun, which seemed supernatural, beyond uanding. The a author of Psalm 19 wrote:
The heavens declare the glory of God,
And the firmament showeth His handiwork;
Day unto day uttereth speech,
And night unto night revealeth knowledge;
There is no speech, there are no words,
her is their voice heard.
Their line is go through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.
In them He has set a tent for the Sun,
Which is like a bridegroom ing out of his chamber;
And rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course.
His going forth is from the end of the heaven,
And his circuit unto the ends of it;
And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
